Downtown flower basket project underway
Summer is nearly here and Downtown Rhinelander Inc. is continuing its tradition of beautifying the city with fresh flower baskets.
The success of the project, which began in 2007, depends on the contributions of local individuals, businesses and organizations, according to a DRI press release. The annual cost to support a flower basket and summer care remains $100, however donations of any amount are greatly appreciated, organizers stressed.
To make a contribution, include your name, address, phone, email and note if you are donating in honor or in memory of someone.
Checks should be made payable to Downtown Rhinelander Inc., PO Box 1638, Rhinelander, WI 54501. Please note “Beautification” in your memo line.
This year there’s another option. Flyers announcing this year’s flower basket project include a QR code that facilitates payment by PayPal, Venmo or debit/credit card. You can also visit www.DowntownRhinelander.com to transfer funds via app or debit/credit card.
“To all of you who contribute to this project, we are immensely grateful,” the release states. “Many of you donate year after year. Your loyalty is commendable and appreciated. Many also have chosen to give baskets in honor of or in memory of someone, which is a wonderful way to celebrate the life of a special person,” the release states. “Forth Floral, under the guidance of Ruth and Henning (Hempel), provides enormous amounts of work, from planting the hanging baskets, months before we can see them, to the routine watering required all summer. Master Gardeners provide invaluable help with the downtown plantings.”
