RHS sports recap: Thursday, May 2

Boys’ tennis: Rhinelander 7, Pacelli 0

The Rhinelander High School boys’ tennis team won all three contested matches on Thursday as it defeated Pacelli 7-0 in a GNC dual in the Hodag Dome.

John Currie won at No. 1 singles, while the Hodags got doubles wins from Joey Belanger/Dalton Fritz and Gavin Denis/Dawson Pontell. The three flights dropped three games between them in straight-set wins. Pacelli, due to low numbers, forfeited at Nos. 2-4 singles and No. 3 doubles.

Rhinelander (12-6, 4-0 Great Northern) travels to Wausau West on Monday.

Baseball: Rhinelander at Lakeland, ppd.

Thursday’s Rhinelander-Lakeland baseball game in Minocqua was postponed due to rain. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader at Stafford Field Friday. Game 1 starts at 4 p.m.

Golf: GNC Meet No. 3, ppd.

Thursday’s third leg of the Great Northern Conference golf tournament, hosted by Rhinelander at Northwood Golf Club, was postponed due to rain. The meet will be made up Monday, May 6 and has been moved to Rhinelander Country Club.
