Outgoing Northwoods United Way board members honored for their service
The Northwoods United Way recently honored two outgoing members of its board of directors.
Rhinelander community members Jo Waltenberg and Todd Schmieding recently completed nine-year tenures on the board.
“Both these individuals deserve to be recognized for their years of service with us,” Northwoods United Way executive director Nancy Sattler said in a press release. “Combined, they have interviewed over 75 agencies that requested funding from us; those agencies owe their United Way support to Jo and Todd.”
In addition, Sattler said, Waltenberg and Schmieding were instrumental in making the organization’s fundraising efforts successful.
“Fishing tournaments, golf tournaments, galas, leadership conferences, bowling tournaments and numerous shares nights at local restaurants — when we needed their help, they were there,” Sattler said. “They were with me when I was new to my role, and stuck with me through COVID and the growth our agency has experienced. Jo and Todd are great leaders and will be missed.”
The Northwoods United Way serves human services agencies in Oneida, Vilas, Forest and Price counties. It hosts fundraisers throughout the year, accepts applications for funding, interviews prospective recipients and then distributes upwards of $100,000 annually.
