FORK grocery raffle begins
More youths, higher costs, and larger benefits is why this summer, Feed Our Rural Kids (FORK) will look to raise the additional funds needed to feed those children through a grocery raffle.
“FORK’s 2024 budget is up, and we don’t want to let the kids down,” said FORK Treasurer Dan Beihoff. That’s why this summer, FORK will look to raise funds through a $5,200 Grocery Raffle.
“Anyone could win $100 of groceries per week for a year. The raffle tickets cost just $5 each or five tickets for $20,” he added.
Grocery raffle director Lynn Kenning said tickets are now available for purchase at 40 area businesses.
“Additionally, Team FORK and the FORK Board of Directors will be selling tickets at various community events throughout the summer,” Kenning noted.
The public can learn more about where FORK raffle tickets are being sold online by visiting feedourruralkids.org/grocery-raffle.
The raffle drawing with be on Sunday, Oct. 6, at the Cranberry Fest Food Tent in Eagle River. Winners do not have to be present to win.
“We are excited to offer a prize that everyone will want to win. $5,200 in free groceries has the potential to impact every family budget, and at the same time you will be helping FORK to feed local kids,” Kenning concluded.
Tickets will go on sale May 3 at area businesses across the north, including the County Line Store in Minocqua and Slo’s Pub and Grill in Arbor Vitae.
Feed Our Rural Kids is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides nutritional support to children from food insecure homes within the Northland Pines, Three Lakes, and Phelps school districts. Additionally they underwrite the Family Food Helpline at 888-479-FORK (3675) as a partnership with the Oneida and Vilas County Departments of Social Services.
