Arlene Pearl Shepherd, 91, of Rhinelander, passed away Monday, March 25, 2024, at Milestone Senior Living.
Arlene was born in Rhinelander to Edward and Ethel (Fitzpatrick) Everson and was raised in the Town of Harrison. She attended Rhinelander schools and was a 1951 graduate of Rhinelander High School. While in high School Arlene met William Shepherd, they became high school sweethearts and on July 25, 1953, the couple were united in marriage at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The couple owned and operated Shepherd Sales and Repair for 30 years, creating and repairing leather goods. They retired in 1996.
Arlene was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church. While attending St. Joe’s she was involved with the women’s club and assisted with babysitting.
Arlene enjoyed traveling and her flower garden.
Surviving are three brothers, Clarence Everson of Gleason, Edward (Judy) Everson of Sugar Camp, and Marvin (Wendy) Everson of Alton Bay, N.H., sisters, Mabel Fawley of Schofield, Joyce Blomberg of Rhinelander, Rosetta Nickolie of Rhinelander, Bonnie (Chris) Cira of Woodruff, and Cyndy (Clyde) Hansen of Appleton, along with three additional sisters-in-law, Judy Everson of Winneconne, Kathy Everson of Sugar Camp and Alicia Everson of Rhinelander. Also surviving are nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Arlene is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Joseph Shepherd in 1998, siblings, Arthur (June) Everson, Bruce (Beverly) Everson, Edwin Everson, Frank Everson, Kenneth Everson, Raymond Everson, and by an additional sister-in-law, Alice Everson and brothers-in-law, Laurence Blomberg and Alvin “Zeke” Fawley.
The visitation for Arlene will be held Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Nativity Catholic Church, located at 125 E. King Street, from 10:30 a.m. until the 11:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial, with Fr. Chris Kemp officiating.
Immediately following the mass there will be a procession to Northland Memorial Park for the committal service.
