Linda Kay Strauch, 78, of Eagle River, died peacefully Thursday, March 1, 2024 at Milestone Senior Care in Rhinelander following an extended illness. She was born July 21, 1945, in Hamilton, Montana, to Lloyd Levi and Mildred Louise (née Johnston) Davis.
Shortly after graduating Hamilton High School in 1964, Linda Kay moved to Wisconsin. While working at Marshall Field’s Department Store, she met Peter Becker. They were married in 1967 and later divorced. On May 5, 1979, she married Reiner Strauch. As an accomplished chef, Reiner was employed (and they lived) at several locations in Illinois and Wisconsin before settling in Eagle River. For a time, Linda Kay worked in the deli of Trig’s Supermarket.
Throughout the years Reiner and Linda Kay took trips to Germany, Montana, California and Arizona to visit family. Linda Kay enjoyed reading, watching television, especially “Jeopardy” and “Antique Road Show.”
Survivors include two nephews: Ron (Nancy) Steele of Prescott, Ariz., and Tom (Judy) Davis of Livingston, Mont.; three grandnieces: Kelly Halstead, Stephanie Davis Neill, Jenelle Steele; grandnephew: Justin Davis; three great-grandnieces: Haley Halstead Villalobos, Evelyn Davis, Alice Neill; great-grandnephew: Jack Davis; and her dear friends, Henry and Anna Schoen.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years: Reiner; parents: Lloyd and Mildred Davis; brother and his wife: Jack and Bobby Davis; sister and her husband: Evelyn and Don Steele; nieces: Janice Davis and Susan Bragg.
Memorial services with interment next to her husband, Reiner, will occur at a later date this year at Riverview Cemetery in Hamilton, Montana.
