On Tuesday, March 19, the Rhinelander High School sophomore class participated in the annual Mad Money simulation, a collaboration between Rhinelander Partners in Education and the school district focused on showing young people the reality of financing one’s adult life. After being assigned various careers and life situations, the students were required to balance their household budget while obtaining housing, transportation, food, household necessities, clothing, day care, and other wants and needs. Students from Three Lakes and Elcho also participated in the event which has often been described as an eye-opener for young people on the brink of adulthood. A full story on the simulation will be published in an upcoming edition of the River News.
