RHS Sports recap: Tuesday, March 19

Track & Field: RHS boys’ 4th/8, girls 5th/8, Ashland Invite

Both the RHS boys’ and girls’ track teams finished in the middle of pack Tuesday, placing fourth and fifth, respectively, in the eight-team Oredocker Large School Indoor Invitational at Ashland High School.

The Hodag boys were the top-placing GNC school in the field and were led by wins from junior Truman Lamers in the high jump and the triple jump. Payton Campbell added runner-up finishes in the long jump and the 200 meters. The Hodags took second in the 4x400-meter relay and got third-place finishes from Zach Germain in the 60-meter dash, and Myles Eagleson in the triple jump.

Sophomore Aila Bergman led the Hodag girls, sweeping both the 60 and 200-meter hurdles. Libbey Buchmann added a runner-up finish in the shot put and Rhinelander took third in the 4x800.

Rhinelander is back in action next week at the Merrill Indoor, with the boys competing on Tuesday followed by the girls on Thursday.
