Nicolet College to offer free high school culinary boot camp

Nicolet College invites high school students and current eighth grade-students who will be entering high school this fall to participate in two days of culinary exploration this summer at no charge.

 The college is organizing an immersive culinary boot camp designed to be both educational and a fun-filled adventure for high school students. Designed to introduce participants to the diverse and rewarding world of culinary arts, the event is open to all, and no prior experience is required.

 “Whether students are passionate food enthusiasts or simply curious about exploring career options in the culinary field, this boot camp offers something for everyone,” Nicolet culinary arts instructor Vicki Mendham said in a press release announcing the boot camp. The two-day boot camp, to be held on the Rhinelander campus, will include the following topics.

 Explore Careers in Culinary Arts: Gain insight into various career paths within the culinary industry, including chef and pastry chef.

 Learn Safety and Sanitation: Acquire essential knowledge and skills in food safety and sanitation practices, ensuring a healthy and hygienic culinary environment.

 Master Kitchen Tools: Discover the functionalities of different kitchen tools and equipment, and learn how to use them effectively to create culinary masterpieces.

 Prepare and Enjoy Delicious Lunches: Roll up your sleeves and get hands-on experience in preparing delectable dishes under the guidance of our experienced culinary instructors. Students not only make food, but they also have the opportunity to taste test.
