Gov. Tony Evers visited Crescent Elementary School in Rhinelander Monday, March 4 hours after signing a bipartisan bill aimed at reducing annual child care costs. The new law expands the current child and dependent care tax credit from 50 percent to 100 percent of the federal credit, helping reduce the tax burden on families, the governor’s office explained in a press release. During his time at Crescent, Evers visited a classroom where fifth-grade students were reading self-authored books to first-grade students. He also read the Dr. Seuss classic “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” in the school gym.
