Airport announces additional seasonal flight
By River News Staff
In anticipation of what it expects will be a busy summer travel season, the Rhinelander-Oneida County Airport Commission has announced the addition of a seasonal Delta Connection flight from Rhinelander to the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) beginning May 20 and continuing through September 9.
“This early-afternoon round-trip flight will make it easier and more convenient for travelers who are flying to and from RHI during the busy summer travel season,” the commission announced in a press release.
“On behalf of chair Patrick Marquart, commissioners Geoffrey Weller and Bradley Kowieski, I wish to extend our gratitude to SkyWest and Delta Air Lines for their strong commitment to the furtherance of commercial air service for Rhinelander and the surrounding region,” said Matthew Leitner, airport director.
“This represents the culmination of a comprehensive effort involving many parties committed to our airport’s continued growth and success,” Leitner added.
Tickets for the additional flight are available now. Customers may book today at delta.com, by calling Delta reservations at (800)-221-1212, or with a trusted local travel agent.
Delta first added a seasonal midday flight back in the summer of 2019.
“I think they realize this is a burgeoning market,” Leitner said at that time.
“The launch of the seasonal flight is anticipated to significantly benefit the local economy by increasing travel flexibility for residents and attracting tourists to the region,” travelandtourworld.com reported Tuesday. “The airport director has emphasized this service as a reflection of the robust partnership among Rhinelander-Oneida County Airport, SkyWest Airlines, and Delta Air Lines, focusing on fostering regional development and enhancing connectivity. The direct access to the Minneapolis-St Paul hub is expected to draw more visitors, stimulating growth in local enterprises and tourism ventures.”
