The School District of Rhinelander Drama Department rehearsed their spring musical, “Brenda Bly, Teen Detective,” for local middle school students Wednesday, Feb. 28, in the John and Dori Brown Performing Arts Center. “It's 1958 — a time of rock and roll, space discovery, and great hope for a bright future. But trouble is brewing at the Whitney Ellis Private School For Girls. Only days away from the opening night of the end-of-term musical, ‘Rocket Girl,’ the leading lady is knocked unconscious with a sandbag. Once again, it is up to our favorite teenage sleuth, Brenda Bly, to solve the crime, catch the crook and save the day in this rousing, tongue-in-cheek nostalgic comedy.” Rhinelander will be the first drama troupe in the world to perform a newly revised version of the show’s script, according to a school district press release. Holding the steering wheel is Elena Larson, who plays Bly, in a scene with castmates. Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 1 and 2, with a matinee on Sunday, March 3 at 1 p.m. Admission is free.
