Schreiber to speak at local Alzheimer’s Association event
The Alzheimer’s Association Wisconsin Chapter is set to host its third annual “Purple Party” event on Saturday, June 22 at The Pines Event Center in Rhinelander and tickets are still available.
The event will kick off at 5 p.m. and will include a cash bar, hors d’oeuvres, dinner and a variety of raffles and auctions, organizers said in a press release.
Music will be provided by popular local musician Dave Drivas. Guests are encouraged to wear purple.
This year, the event also features a special guest speaker, former Wisconsin Gov. Martin Schreiber.
Schreiber, author of the book “My Two Elaines,” will share lessons from his journey as a caregiver for his late wife who lived with Alzheimer’s. He will describe challenges, missteps and highlight how compassion and humor provide comfort to both the caregiver and the person with dementia.
Tickets are $50/person or $350 for a table of eight and can be purchased by calling 715-352-4091 or emailing [email protected].
The River News was able to speak to Schreiber earlier this week and will publish a story on his visit in an upcoming edition.
