Hodag Volleyball Camp slated for July 22-25
Youth girls’ volleyball players in the Rhinelander area are invited to attend the Hodag Volleyball Camp that will be held Monday, July 22 to Thursday, July 25 in the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium. The four-day camp will be broken into three sessions for high school, middle school and elementary school-aged players.
“This is a skills camp focused on all areas of the sport, working on form, technique and drill work in order to prepare girls for the upcoming season,” a promotional flyer for the camp stated.
Players entering grades 9-12 will practice from 8 to 11:30 a.m. each day of camp. Players entering grades 6-8 will practice from noon to 2 p.m. and players entering grades 3-5 will practice from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. The cost of the camp is $35 per player. Parents/guardians are encouraged to register their campers by July 1 to guarantee receiving a camp T-shirt.

Northwoods Baseball Classic youth tournament set for June 21-23
The Northwoods Baseball Classic youth baseball tournament is coming to Don Burnside Park in Three Lakes Friday-Sunday, June 21-23.
“Founded in 2017, the Northwoods Baseball Classic (NBC) is the premier annual youth baseball tournament in northern Wisconsin,” tournament organizers said in a press release. “Hosted in Three Lakes, competition takes place across four professionally maintained baseball diamonds at Don Burnside Park. Proceeds raised from the tournament support park improvements in Three Lakes as well as the growth and nurturing of baseball in northern Wisconsin.”
The tournament features a field of 35 teams spread across four separate age divisions (11U, 12U, 13U and 14U). Participating teams will play in a minimum of three games, and concessions, raffles and apparel will be available. Games begin at 2:15 p.m. Friday and run through Sunday afternoon. The tournament will have a local flair, as teams from Three Lakes/Eagle River/St. Germain, Rhinelander, Merrill, Crandon, Antigo and Wausau will face squads from all over Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula.
According to online brackets, Rhinelander is slated to field teams in the 12U and 11U divisions.
