PHOTO: Special Olympians compete at state track

Rhinelander Area 2-05 Special Olympics competed at the Wisconsin state track meet at UW-Whitewater June 7-8.

Pictured, from left to right, are coach Anna Mathy, Maria Dornfeld, Darrick Nelson, Ashley Mathy, Daniel Strutz, Jonathan Erickson, Aaron Hass and coach Rod Ankrom. 

Dornfeld placed first in her division in the softball throw and standing long jump, and fourth in the 50-meter run. Nelson took first in the 200 meters, and seventh in both the 100 and running long jump. Mathy took a first in the 200 meters. Strutz finished second in the running long jump, third in the 400 meters and fifth in the 100. Jonathan Erickson scored a first in the standing long jump. Hass was second in the mini-javelin and fourth in the shot put.
