Delia Alice DiGiacomo

Delia A. DiGiacomo, 98, died on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Premier Estates of Pierce in Pierce, Neb. She was born on August 22, 1925, to John and Angeline (Durand) Schultz in Rhinelander.

Delia married Alfred (Waffy) DiGiacomo on April 22, 1946, and they celebrated 68 years of marriage until his passing in 2014. She worked at the district attorney’s office for several years before joining Albert Cirilli at the Cirilli Law Office for several years. Delia was very civic-minded and was instrumental in the choir at both St. Mary’s Church and then at St. Joseph’s Church. 

Delia then assisted Al in organizing the all-girl Belles of St. Mary’s Drum and Bugle Corps in 1956. During the time they ran the Belles, Delia also provided transportation to any members who needed a ride home after returning home from a trip.

Delia is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Jerry) Staffon of Port Richey, Florida, and Judith (Bob) Letheby of Norfolk, Nebraska, six grandchildren, Jason (Molly) Hunter, of Copperas Cove, Texas, Tad (Jenny) Hunter of Jacobsburg, Ohio, Mark (Amy) Schleinz of Wausau,Nicole Staffon Izquierdo, of Port Richey, Florida, Kasi (Jay) Staffon Klein, of Port Richey, Florida, and Traci (John) Staffon Frank, of Port Richey, Florida, 11 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and sixth great-great-grandchild on the way in Florida.

Delia was preceded in death by her spouse, her parents, and by two brothers, and three sisters.

The committal service for Delia will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Cemetery. Please meet at the funeral home by 10:45 a.m., for the procession to the cemetery.

A Celebration of Life with hors d’oeuvres being served will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at Twin Pines Bar & Grill, located at 4051 County Road C, Rhinelander.
