A line of strong to severe thunderstorms pushed through the Northwoods during the late afternoon hours Wednesday, June 5, bringing down a number of trees and knocking out power to several area residents. According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, a 58 mph wind gust was observed at the Rhinelander-Oneida County Airport at 5:21 p.m. Broadcast reports showed a number of downed trees, including one at the entrance to Pioneer Park in Rhinelander.
