Feldman inducted into Wisconsin 4-H Hall of Fame
Wisconsin 4-H Youth Development has announced its 2023 & 2024 Hall of Fame Laureates including 10 volunteers, supporters and staff who have impacted Wisconsin 4-H. The newest laureates were inducted in a ceremony at the Wintergreen Resort in Wisconsin Dells on April 28.
Among the 10 Hall of Fame Laureates is Lynn Feldman, Oneida County 4-H Volunteer and retired 4-H Youth Development Educator.
“We are incredibly grateful to this year’s laureates and the countless hours of service they have provided to the youth of Wisconsin,” said Jessica Jens, Positive Youth Development Institute Director and Wisconsin 4-H Program Associate Director, University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension. “They have supported and inspired a generation of 4-H members to challenge themselves to learn, lead, and contribute to their communities. Their selfless contributions of time, energy, and talent have created ripples of impact which will continue to positively impact the world around us for years to come.”
Feldman has spent more than three decades dedicating her time — as a 4-H parent, volunteer, and educator — to helping youth thrive in Oneida County.
Feldman moved to Rhinelander in 1988 and, while teaching, started a new 4-H club when there was only one active 4-H club in Oneida County. With Feldman’s involvement, the club quickly grew to 60 members, eventually splitting and creating a second club to accommodate even more 4-H members, the release states.
In 2013, Feldman was hired as the 4-H/Positive Youth Development Educator with Oneida County Extension. During this time, she doubled 4-H enrollment in Oneida County and helped provide access for many first-generation 4-Hers to attend local, state, national, and international 4-H experiences.
Beyond 4-H, Feldman oversaw the county Teen Court program, advised a high school diversity club; chaperoned civic leadership conferences and a teen sexual assault awareness conference, and coordinated the Teens Active in Government program with Oneida County and the City of Rhinelander.
In 2022, Feldman was named the Oneida County 4-H Volunteer of the Year. She was recognized for her hardworking and caring approach, and for providing meaningful opportunities for youth and adults to work together.
The Wisconsin 4-H Hall of Fame was established to recognize 4-H volunteers, financial supporters, staff and pioneers who made major contributions to the 4-H movement at the local, state and national levels. The candidates represent 4-H in the broadest sense — people who had an impact on the lives of children, their community or state through significant contributions of time, energy or financial resources to 4-H and its members.
