Reader is troubled by “globalist left-wing” influence at LUHS

To the Editor:

The letter to the editor in the July 19 edition of The Lakeland Times written by Hannah “Bonnie” Dana is troubling.

I understand in May of 2024, Ms. Dana received an award from the globalist organization — IN4OBE. That’s downright scary! An advisor to the local school system has globalist ties. Perhaps every decision that the LUHS school board made based upon the recommendations or guidance from Ms. Dana should be revisited. Ms. Dana claims to be an educational leader but it appears she may in fact have been an educational indoctrinator instead — serving the interests of a left-wing globalist political agenda ... and not necessarily the interests of the local community.

Ms. Dana writes: jobs that require “... little academic competence ...” Please tell us Ms. Dana what jobs do you really speak of? Just exactly what menial jobs are we now doing and where do all of these graduates go to get the jobs you speak so highly of?

Ms. Dana also writes: “... community members who consistently wanted the learners [your kids] to develop a strong work ethic, work well with others, understand the meaning and responsibilities of a democracy, read for information and entertainment, learn from history to improve the future ...” Some other troubling statements Ms. Dana makes — “I have seen too many students who did not have a clue what they wanted out of life, how to set goals ...” Now this all sounds hunky dory — but it’s not. Ms. Dana wants us to trust the left-wing teachers union to teach our kids about democracy after eight years of the Democrats gaslighting the American public as to Donald Trump being a threat to democracy and she also wants us to trust the left-wing teachers union giving “lifestyle advice” to the kids.

No thanks! Quite frankly — the Democrats with their unhinged rhetoric, aided and abetted a would be assassin to kill President Trump. Plus the Democrats are so confused they don’t even know which bathrooms they are supposed to use, they want boys competing against girls and they even appointed to the Supreme Court a justice who can’t even define what a woman is. The curriculum Ms. Dana speaks of is nothing more than a left-wing “wish list” to indoctrinate our children ... period! Ms. Dana pretty much wants government education to be the parent. This is a recipe to destroy the family unit — the above mentioned are things children should learn from their parents not from left-wing educational indoctrinators!

Ms. Dana — most jobs do not require the brainwashing and indoctrination curriculum that government education is ramming down America’s throat! Perhaps if government education concentrated more on (how you put it) “readin’, writin’ and ‘rithmetic skills’ — rather than on social engineering and intrusion into our families lives we might have more respect for “your profession.”
