Jeffrey T. Kuehn, age 75, of Rhinelander, passed away at home July 23, 2024. He was born August 12, 1948, in Rhinelander, to Doris and Joseph Kuehn. Jeffrey grew up on Thayer Street near Hodag Park. As a child, he spent many summers playing baseball, swimming in Boom Lake, jumping the viaduct to ride the rails with friends. Jeffrey graduated from Rhinelander High school in 1966 and went on to serve his country in the Navy from 1966-1970, where he was stationed in Pearl Harbor, HI and sailed the pacific from Japan to Tahiti. While in the military he studied communications which helped him transition into his 40-year career in telecommunications.

After the service, Jeffrey met and married the love of his life Rebecca Rae Kuehn (Breivogel). They were blessed with two children and six grandchildren who will greatly miss their “Pops”.

Jeffrey had a lifelong love of fishing which began at their family land in Pine Lake. Some of his favorite memories were lakeside watching the “old timers” catch and prepare a freshly caught dinner for the family. His love of fishing remained and he felt so blessed to be able to get a few more trips in with his grandsons even while sick. Every fishing trip turned into a contest of who would catch “Walter” and everytime truly was “the time of their lives.” Jeff had a deep love of nature and spent much of his free time reading, biking, sailing, kayaking, snowshoeing, hunting, and skiing. He enjoyed monthly breakfasts with the Rhinelander class of ‘66. He loved the entertainment that came with his grandkids sporting events, their company around the campfire and always looked forward to their annual family spring break trips. Above all he was grateful for quiet times filled with much love and laughter with his wife, Rebecca.

Jeffrey is survived by his wife Rebecca, their son Timothy (Amy Janke), grandchildren Kirby Kuehn (Cassie Strebe) and Shelby Kuehn (Brandon McReynolds); daughter Melanie Galang, grandchildren Sidney, Samuel, Alexa and Gianna Galang and their father Christopher Galang; siblings Timothy (Judy) Kuehn, Tom (Cindy) Kuehn, Mary (Al) Ewan, John Kuehn, Daniel(Christy) Kuehn, Anne (Dick) Stoll, Jane Kuehn, Barb (Scott) Cirilli, brother-in-law Mike (Bonnie) Breivogel, Bill Breivogel and Doug Brown; sister-in-law Anne (Hartman) Kuehn, Sue Brown (Tyrone Bell) and Jean Lund (Steve Wick), and many nieces and nephews.

Jeffrey is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Doris, his brother Joe, his father and mother-in-law William and Jeanette Breivogel, and his daughter-in-law April Bergman Kuehn.

Jeffrey lived a very blessed life reminding his grandkids daily how lucky he was for the life God gave him. The sincere care and concern from those close meant more to him and his wife than anything else could.

The family would like to thank the Compassus Hospice staff for their care over the last 5 months.

Arrangements for Jeffrey are incomplete at this time. You may leave your private condolences for the Kuehn family at www.carlsonfh.com.
