Eugene Earl Meirhofer

Eugene Earl Meirhofer, age 84 of Rhinelander, died on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at  Country Terrace Assisted Living in Rhinelander. Gene was born in Rhinelander on Oct. 6, 1939, the son of Elmer and Isabelle (Gilson) Meirhofer.

Gene attended schools in Rhinelander, graduating from Rhinelander High School in 1957. After his schooling he spent 20 years in the Navy, retiring as a Petty Officer First Class in 1977. He then returned to Rhinelander and worked for Triumph Twist Drill, Northstar, and lastly for Appraisal Plus.

Gene enjoyed tinkering with anything that had to do with motors or electronics, being out in the sun and country music. He never missed a Green Bay Packers game. He enjoyed numerous road trips with his wife and he loved his family, especially the many get-togethers that they had over the years.

Eugene is survived by his wife Marilyn, his daughters Deborah (Rueben) Alsteen, Davina (David) Krause, his son Damon (Jackie) Meirhofer, stepchildren Paul O’Malley, John O’Malley and Michelle (Jason) Oftel, his grandchildren Jerrick, Jason, Jacob, Alivia, Nicole, Joseph, Devon, Daryn, Della, Liam, Luke, and Ella, his 15 great-grandchildren and his sisters Pat, Dawn and Diane (Charlie). He was preceded in death by his parents his first wife Cleone, and his brother, George.

Visitation for Eugene will be held on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024 from 11 a.m. to.1 p.m. at the Carlson Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held immediately following the visitation at the Northland Memorial Park Cemetery. Interment will be in the Northland Memorial Park Cemetery.
