Cowboy reenactment at Camp 5 July 20
This is a prime weekend to ride the Lumberjack Steam Train from the depot in Laona to the Camp 5 Lumberjack Camp complex.
“Cowboys will be at Camp 5 on July 20 with their horses galloping and six guns blazing,” Camp 5 officials announced in a press release. “We think they will rob the train on every trip from the depot in Laona, at the junction of Hwy. 8 and 32. It seems that they always do! The cowboys are dedicated robbers. They rob the train run that leaves the depot at 9:30 a.m. and keep robbing it all day long. Don’t worry, nobody ever loses their valuables. The good guys are dependable. They always show up to chase the bad guys away! And they will make their escape on splendid horses wearing authentic looking cowboy duds and boots. These hombres often have a shootout at Camp 5, but nobody seems to get hurt! There are mostly a friendly bunch, camping out in tents and visiting with everyone. It is a pleasant and enjoyable experience.”
While at Camp 5, guests can visit the Forestry Museum, the working Blacksmith Shop, the Nature Center, Petting Zoo, take the Forest Surrey Ride, visit the Cracker Barrel Gift Shop and satisfy their thirst and hunger at the Choo Choo Cafe.
All are welcome and encouraged to experience all that Camp 5 has to offer. For more information, visit www.lumberjacksteamtrain.com.
