Kathleen Martha Shepherd, 92, of the Town of Pelican, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Tomahawk Health Services.

She was born in Crandon and raised in Jennings on April 3, 1932, the daughter of Phillip A. and Martha M. (Wildner) Krzoska. 

Kathleen’s parents owned a resort on Post Lake in the Jennings area. Kathleen attended a one-room elementary school in Jennings. She then attended Elcho High School, graduating in 1950. She was united in marriage to Robert William Shepherd on June 27, 1953, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rhinelander, and they were together until Robert’s death in 1999. The couple lived and raised their family in Rhinelander. 

Kathleen was employed at Nicolet College where she retired after over 20 years in the business office. 

She was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church. 

Kathleen enjoyed sewing, crafts, and was the reporter of the Stovewood Museum in Jennings. 

She will be dearly missed by her children, Tim (Judy), William (Holly) Shepherd of Rhinelander, Mary (Greg) Soderlund of Rhinelander, and Karen Shepherd of Rhinelander, grandchildren, Christopher (Shannon) Shepherd, Edward Johnson, Larone Spears, Darone Spears, Dakota Shepherd, Mirella Eternicka, Michelle (Jason) Flanagan, Bethany Erickson, and Jeremiah Erickson, eight great-grandchildren, a sister, Phyllis (Robert) Kaczmarczyk of Stevenson, Michigan. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.  

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert Shepherd in 1999, two sisters, Marcella (Harry) Walentowski and Gertrude Walentowski. 

The visitation for Kathleen will take place on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, located at 125 E. King Street from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. 

Fr. Kevin Farrell will officiate. 

Immediately following the mass, there will be a procession to Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Cemetery for the committal service.
