No serious injuries in Vilas County plane crash

There were no serious injuries reported after a small airplane crashed in Land O’ Lakes late Sunday morning.

According to a press release issued by the Vilas County sheriff’s office Sunday evening, the dispatch center received a call at 11:15 a.m. Sunday from a person reporting an airplane crash in the area of County Highway B and the Land O’ Lakes post office. 

The pilot, a 67-year-old female from Watersmeet, Mich., was uninjured.

The aircraft’s passenger sustained a minor injury and was treated and released from the scene, according to the release.

The crash remains under investigation.

Agencies that assisted with the call and with the crash investigation include the Land O’ Lakes Fire Department, Vilas County Emergency Government, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, National Highway Traffic Safety Bureau, Federal Aviation Administration and the Vilas County sheriff’s office.
