Rhinelander Fourth of July Parade will include flyover
By River News Staff
The 2024 Rhinelander Fourth of July parade will include a F-35 Flyover, the parade committee announced late last week.
“The F-35 Flyover is courtesy of the 115th Fighter Wing, a Madison-based Air National Guard flying wing,” the committee explained in a press release. “Weather conditions could cause the flyover to be canceled. For pictures and more information, search www.115fw.ang.af.mil. The F-35 Flyover was made possible through the efforts of the Veterans Ceremony - U.G.C. Inc.” It’s website is veteransceremony.org.
Also, the public is reminded that the parade route has been adjusted due to safety concerns.
The main parade will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 4, starting at the police station on Frederick Street, south on Brown Street, then east on Anderson St, then north on Stevens St to Davenport Street.
This year’s theme is “USA and the world unite,” in recognition of the upcoming Summer Olympics.
Units of interest include the Rhinelander High School Band, Edgar High School Band, Pipes and Drums of Thunder Bay, Zor Funsters and Janesville Fife & Drum.
Awards will be given for entries in the following categories: Non-Profit, Business, Marching and General.
The kiddie parade will start at 10 a.m. with lineup set for 9:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran School on Frederick Street.
