Prior to its final home meet of the season on Tuesday, Jan. 23, the Rhinelander High School boys’ swim team honored two gentlemen who have been staples at Hodag swim meets for more than a half a century.
The team recognized long-time referees Dan Netzer and Steve Jensen for 50 years of service as WIAA-licensed officials. The two received plaques courtesy of the team and Rhinelander High School for their long-standing service.
“I’m really proud to be around such great people in the community like Dan and Steve. I thank them for their time and their dedication,” Hodag boys’ swim coach Jenny Heck said.
Former RHS head swim coach Dan Jesse also commented during the presentation saying, “Tonight we’re honoring them for an amazing 50 years of providing excellent officiating to our program. As a coach, I always have taken pride in the fact that Rhinelander High School has provided swimmers with well-run, well-officiated swim meets. That was due to the work of these two gentlemen.”
