The new Holiday Inn Ex- press & Suites hotel on Rhinelander’s northeast side is open for business.

In a press release issued Thursday, IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) and ROI Hospitality Development, announced the new hotel is ready to host guests.

Plans for the hotel were first brought to the city plan commission in late spring 2022. By early August 2022, a development agreement between the city and Hodag Hospitality Group, the local investment team, was approved and a new TIF (tax incremental funding) district was created.

Construction began in early October 2022. The hotel is located near the Hodag Dome, the Rhinelander Ice Arena, and the a number of the area’s top businesses, the release notes.

Lori Haug a member of Hodag Hospitality Group, said: “We are thrilled to introduce the IHG brand to the community. We wanted to provide our guests with a fresh and inviting atmosphere by featuring bright colors and a contemporary style that blend perfectly. We focused on oversizing the usual hot tub and pool adjacent to the large outdoor patio area and fire pit. Our hotel team is dedicated to providing an unforgettable guest experience that celebrates the natural beauty and charm of the area. The hotel exudes and urban vibe in a Northwoods Wisconsin Setting. We look forward to providing our business and leisure travelers to the Northwoods a fresh and pleasant stay and aspire to be the preferred hotel in the area for many years to come.”

The 99-room Holiday Inn Express & Suites Rhinelander will provide “on-the-go guests with all the essentials to navigate their day, ranging from the signature Express Start® breakfast loaded with a range of fresh-made and grab-and-go food and drink options to blackout blinds, high-quality bedding and a choice of pillows for a sound night’s sleep,” the release states.

“Guests can remain productive in the hotel’s 600 square feet of meeting space and 24-hour business center before unwinding in its indoor pool, hot tub, or fitness center.”

“During the last three decades, Holiday Inn Express has become the world’s largest hotel brand through the consistent delivery of a dependable, simple and smart experience that prepares guests for whatever their day entails,” said Kevin Schramm, SVP of Development, Mainstream – U.S. & Canada for IHG Hotels & Resorts. “We look forward to working with ROI Hospitality Development to introduce the Holiday Inn Express & Suites experience to travelers and our new neighbors within the growing Rhinelander community.”

“It is an honor to be a part of the IHG brand, known and respected for its commitment to delivering the highest degree of hospitality and unmatched value,” added John Warwick, President of ROI Hospitality Development. “This property is an exceptional lodging option for guests traveling to northern Wisconsin for business or leisure.”
