City alderman resigns

The Rhinelander Common Council was scheduled to convene a special meeting Monday evening, Jan. 29, to discuss the process for filling the District 4 aldermanic seat left vacant by the resignation last week of longtime councilman Tom Kelly.

Kelly tendered a one-sentence letter of resignation effective Jan. 24, the city clerk’s office confirmed Friday.

Mayoral appointments to vacancies on the Rhinelander District Library Board and the Rhinelander Board of Review were also on the agenda for the meeting, which was scheduled to take place after the edition went to press.
