Boys’ basketball: Rhinelander 60, Antigo 45
The Rhinelander High School boys’ basketball team completed a regular season sweep of the Antigo Red Robins Friday night, pulling away in the second half to a 60-45 victory in Antigo.
Rhinelander led 26-19 at the break and opened the second on a 12-2 run as the lead remained above double digits the rest of the way.
Devon Feck had 18 points off the bench to lead Rhinelander and Will Gretzinger had 16. Gus Schuessler had 18 to lead Antigo.
Rhinelander (8-5, 5-1 Great Northern) hosts Wisconsin Rapids on Tuesday.
Girls’ basketball: Rhinelander 69, Antigo 43
The Hodag girls’ basketball team overcame first half foul trouble and cruised past Antigo 69-43 Friday night in Antigo.
Rhinelander led 26-13 in the first half when leading scorer Aubryn Clark picked up her third personal foul with 6:20 left in the half. She would pick up a fourth on an offensive foul with 2:56 before the break, but the Hodags managed to take a 33-19 lead to the break and extended the advantage to 49-29 before Clark returned to the game with 7:39 remaining.
Lily Treder had 23 points and was 5 of 12 from beyond the arc to lead the Hodags. Clark, despite the foul trouble, still finished with 19. Keelyn Zwirschitz led Antigo with 19 while Tristin Arlen had 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Rhinelander (11-4, 6-1 Great Northern) travels to Stevens Point on Tuesday.
Boys’ swimming: Rhinelander 99, Ashwaubenon 70
The Rhinelander High School boys’ swim team won 10 of 11 events Friday night as it defeated Ashwaubenon 99-70 in a non-conference dual meet at the Heck Family Community Pool.
Mathias Fugle was a four-event winner for the Hodags. He won the 50- and 100-yard freestyle races and was on the Hodags’ winning 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams. Zacha King took the win in the 200 individual medley and the 100 backstroke, Samson Shinners won the 200 freestyle, Brock Arrowood took the 100 butterfly and Shawn Denis claimed the 100 breaststroke.
Rhinelander is scheduled to host D.C. Everest at Tomahawk in a triangular on Tuesday.
