Newbold to send proposed wake ordinance to DNR

By TREVOR GREENE
Reporter

The Newbold town board voted Thursday to forward a proposed ordinance focused on regulating “artificially enhanced wakes” to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

The town board heard testimony from four Newbold lake associations prior to the vote. Two Oneida County conservation organizations voiced support for the ordinance as well.

After each comment supporting the ordinance was made,  the crowd of roughly 50 people applauded.

The board’s vote was unanimous, but town supervisor Mike McKenzie indicated there is still a long way to go before any wake regulation will take effect in Newbold.

A full story on the discussion and the board’s action will be published in a future edition of the River News.
