Wrestling: Rhinelander 3rd/3, Valders Invite

Traveling down before Friday afternoon’s snowstorm, the Hodags made it to Valders to compete in an invite on Saturday. Mother Nature turned what was supposed to be an 18-team tournament down to a modified three-team scramble. The Hodags finished third, 21 points behind first place Manitowoc.

Most of the Hodags’ success came in the upper weights. Logan Schwinger, Maxi Singhammer and Gavin Dotter finished 1-2-3 in the 190-pound bracket. Owen Kurtz and Reid Schultz were 1-2 at 285. Hoyt Dantoin added a third-place finish at 113 and Aiden Ostermann was third at 150.

The Hodags return to action Tuesday in a non-conference quadrangular meet at Phillips.
