Swim Club prepares for home meet

The Rhinelander Swim Club will be hosting their home swim meet Saturday, Jan. 20. The meet will welcome over 200 athletes and six teams from across north central Wisconsin to the Heck Family Community Pool at Rhinelander High School. Ages 10 and under compete during the morning hours and 11 and over hit the pool deck in the afternoon.

This year’s RSC team is over 80 athletes strong with ages ranging from 5 to 18. Over 90% of the beginner athletes have competed in all four strokes during previous swim meets and the majority of athletes are finishing with personal best times at each meet. There are seven swimmers already qualified to swim in the Wisconsin Short Course Championships at the end of the season.

“Our athletes are growing at each level,” RSC head coach Megan Cihla said. They are hungry to try new things and push themselves out of their comfort zone every week. The support they share for each other and the friendships they make along the way are priceless.”

The Rhinelander Swim Club season begins during the month of October and ends in early March.
