Fundraiser to replace canceled ice fishing tournament
The 16th Annual AmVets-NCO Club of Rhinelander & Tomahawk ice fishing tournament, scheduled for Jan. 6, has been canceled due to ice conditions on Lake Nokomis.
“Our number one priority is the safety of our supporters, and ice conditions just aren’t safe enough due to our unusually warm winter this year,” organizers said in a press release. “In lieu of ice fishing, we will hold a fundraiser at Prairie Rapids Tavern, 10223 Prairie Rapids Rd, Tomahawk, the same day from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can register anytime during the event beginning at 8 a.m. There will be lots of raffles drawn every half hour, and you do not need to be present to win. We invite you to come out, have a good time, and support our organization that supports veterans and our communities.”
Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit local veterans’ programs.
AMVETS (American Veterans) is a club open to and fighting for all who honorably served in the United States military, including the Reserve and Guard.
The NCO Club is an organization for non-commissioned military.
