David Lee Richardson, age 85, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023, in the comfort of his own home. He was born on Jan. 18, 1938, in Rhinelander, the son of Harold and Esther (Brown) Richardson.
David married the love of his life, Judy, on Dec. 15, 1956. They were blessed with 65 years of marriage before Judy unexpectedly passed away.
David served in the Army in the late 1950s before his first daughter was born in 1960. They lived in Chicago when they welcomed Carla. After living in Chicago, they moved back to Rhinelander where they welcomed another daughter Paula, and a son Casey.
Once David returned from Chicago, he worked for the City of Rhinelander driving the garbage truck. Eventually he went onto his dream job, where he worked for 32 years, taking care of Highways G & Q, as well as the town of Enterprise. He retired from the county in 1999. David loved fishing the flowage with his wife Judy and family. He and Judy enjoyed camping and in later years David enjoyed taking her for jaunts.
David will be deeply missed by all, especially his daughter Paula (Mike) Dreuth and son Casey Richardson. He is further survived by his grandchildren Michael (Stephanie) Novak, Adam (Sam) Engstrom, Megan (Tim) Engstrom, Jeff (Trisha) Bauman, Aaron (Stacey) Richardson, Bryce (Mike) Klaver, and Haley (Wyatt) Haenel, his great-grandchildren and another one on the way, his sister Judy Richardson, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Judy, daughter Carla Engstrom, son-in-law Terry Engstrom, brother Harold, and sister Roxene.
David was well loved by all of his family, and they would want him to be remembered as a kind and humble man. They would also like to give a thank you to the support of Compassus Hospice Care in Rhinelander.
There will be no services for Mr. Richardson at this time. You may leave you private condolences for the Richardson family at www.carlsonfh.com.
