$10K cash bond set in Lake Tomahawk meth case

A Lake Tomahawk man is being held in the Oneida County jail on $10,000 cash bail after a search warrant related to a methamphetamine investigation was executed at his residence on Dec. 27, 2023. According to a criminal complaint filed Dec. 29, Scott J. Mielkie, 53, was charged with possession of methamphetamine (10-50g) second or subsequent offense after police located two plastic bags each containing approximately 23 grams of methamphetamine, $1,200 in cash and approximately 1,600 rounds of ammunition in a variety of calibers inside his home.

Several items of drug paraphernalia, other substances and fake money used in the motion picture industry were also located during the search, according to the complaint.

Mielkie was arrested on-site but declined to speak with investigators, according to police reports attached to the complaint.

He made his initial appearance in Oneida County Circuit Court on Dec. 29 at which time Judge Mike Bloom sent bond at $10,000 cash. According to court records, Bloom also ordered that the defendant be monitored by GPS bracelet if he posts bond.

An adjourned initial appearance is scheduled for Jan. 22, however court records indicate a federal detainer has been placed on Mielkie as he was on extended supervision in connection with a federal drug conviction at the time of arrest.

According to online federal court records, in November 2021, Mielkie was sentenced to 22 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years supervised release, on a charge of “knowingly and intentionally possessing with intent to distribute a mixture and substance containing methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance.”

Mielkie also has a conviction in state court from 2021 for possession of methamphetamine.

If convicted of the new charge, he faces up to 25 years in prison.
