Rhinelander Community Foundation receives national accreditation
The Rhinelander Community Foundation recently received accreditation with the nation’s highest standard for philanthropic excellence.
The Community Foundations National Standards establish legal, ethical, effective practices for community foundations everywhere, according to a press release announcing RCF’s inclusion.
“Meeting the National Standards benchmarks is a rigorous, comprehensive process,” said Susie Nelson, board chair of National Standards. “This accreditation is a significant accomplishment that indicates the Rhinelander Community Foundation demonstrates a commitment to transparency, quality, integrity and accountability as it carries out its mission.”
The Community Foundations National Standards program requires community foundations to document their policies for donor services, investments, grantmaking and administration, the release states.
With over 500 community foundations already accredited nationwide, the program is designed to provide quality assurance to donors, as well as to their legal and financial advisors.
“This is critically important to our donors,” said Gina Heck, RCF president. “When people make a charitable bequest or establish a fund, they are putting their trust in us. The National Standards accreditation says our house is in order.”
In 2023, the Rhinelander Community Foundation awarded $101,890 to local community charitable organizations that directly enriches the lives of Rhinelander residents.
The generosity of donors has resulted in over $1.6 million in donations since its inception, and nearly $1 million given to local charitable organizations to-date, the organization reported.
“The RCF is shaping Rhinelander’s future by giving a boost to arts and culture, helping children, beautifying our natural surroundings, and preserving our historical heritage,” the release states. “The RCF has specific established funds where you can donate and be ensured that your donation helps the charity that is most meaningful for you.
