Free income tax assistance available
Trained and certified volunteers, sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service and working through the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Program, will once again provide free TY2023 Federal and State Income Tax and Wisconsin Homestead Credit preparation including electronic filing. The target group is people with low to moderate income, with an emphasis for those 60 and older, according to a press release announcing the assistance program.
This service, provided at no cost, is available at the ADRC of Oneida County in Rhinelander, by appointment only, each Monday and Wednesday February 5 to April 10. Contact the ADRC of Oneida County office at 715-369-6170 to schedule an appointment.
The Rhinelander site expects to prepare and e-file approximately 350 returns for the 2023 Tax Year with about one-third including a Homestead Tax Credit.
In the Northwoods, there are also Tax-Aide sites in Eagle River at the Olson Public Library on Wednesdays from Feb. 7 to April 10 (call 715-479-3727 for appointments) and in Minocqua at the Public Library on Fridays from Feb. 9 to April 12 (call 715-356-4437 for appointments).
