Strutting down the red carpet: Nicolet cosmetology students to host hair show March 8
Nicolet College cosmetology students will showcase their skills in the annual Student Hair Show at 6 p.m. March 8 at the Nicolet College Theatre, and the public is invited to attend.
The $15 admission serves as a fundraiser to support advanced student education. This year, the cosmetology program is partnering with the Nicolet College Food Pantry to offer attendees the option to donate one non-perishable food item to receive a $5 discount on the price of admission, organizers said in a press release.
Money raised from the hair show will allow cosmetology students to attend America’s Beauty Show in Rosemont, Ill., where students can test out the latest products and tools while also networking with seasoned stylists.
“Our primary goal with the student hair show is a fundraising event for the students’ continuing education,” said cosmetology instructor Marie Stott. “In addition to that, it’s nice for students to showcase their talents.”
Stott said the show is different every year because each group brings in new ideas and aesthetics.
This year’s theme is “Night at the Movies,” and will include a pre-party hosted by the students prior to the start of the show in addition to a silent auction afterwards.
Nicolet College culinary students will prepare hors d’oeuvres for attendees to enjoy prior to the event.
Each cosmetology student will glam up three models in full hair, makeup, and wardrobe, and models will be judged by local industry professionals.
The top scorers receive prizes like tools, products, and gift cards, as well as the coveted Golden Brush Awards.
Stott mentioned that in years past, members of local salons are in attendance to recruit students for job opportunities based on their work displayed at the show. She said the event is a great way for students to establish themselves in the local industry.
Tickets for this unique night of entertainment can be purchased at the door on the night of the event or online in advance at nicoletlive.com.
