Rhinelander’s Retzlaff scores second straight top-5 Xfinity finish
Rhinelander native Parker Retzlaff scored back-to-back top-five finishes for the first time in his NASCAR Xfinity Series career, finishing fifth Saturday in the RAPTOR King of Tough 250 at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Ga.
Retzlaff saved enough fuel for an overtime finish on the drafting-style track to score the top-five finish. Four of the top five finishers from the season-opener Feb. 19 at Daytona were also in the top five Saturday. Austin Hill piloted his Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet to a second straight win, followed by Chandler Smith in a Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, New Zeelander Shane Van Gisbergen in a Kaulig Racing Chevy and Sheldon Creed in another Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota.
Retzlaff, who finished third in the season opener at Daytona, sits sixth in the second-tier Xfinity Series points standings through two races in his Jordan Anderson Racing Bommarito Autosport Chevy. The series will race again this coming Saturday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
