Poster Contest Winners

The Oneida County Land and Water Conservation Department held a reception for the winners of its environmental poster contest Monday, Feb. 19 at the Oneida County Courthouse. Students from several area elementary and middle schools took part, creating posters around this year’s theme “May the Forest be with You Always.” Pictured are award winners who were able to attend the ceremony. In the front row, from left to right, are Margaret Campbell, Landyn Robinson, Zoey Gauthier and Levi Keckeisen. In the back row are Carlee Elizondo, Quinn Williams, Kendall Kurtz, Noelle Mayo and Aubrey Bohn. Mayo, Kaylee Steinmetz and Kurtz, all seventh graders at James Williams Middle School, took first, second and third in the junior division local contest, with Mayo advancing to the area contest where she placed second. Robinson, a sixth grader at JWMS, won the middle division and was awarded best in show for the local contest. Campbell (JWMS) finished second while Williams (Nativity of our Lord) was tied for third with Rex Rowe (Sugar Camp Elementary). In addition to the place winners, 24 honorable mention awards were handed out between the two divisions.
