John Edward McMullen

John Edward McMullen, age 72, of Rhinelander, died on February 7, 2024 at Aspirus Eagle River Hospital.

He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on November 23,1951 to William and Betty (Clough) McMullen.

John attended some of his grade school in Cleveland. During his grade school years the family moved to Racine where he completed his schooling and graduated from Racine Case in 1969. During this time he would meet Annette Marcinek and on September 4,1971 they were married in Racine.

John, Annette and family made their move to Rhinelander in the early 2000s, that is when John applied for a job driving school buses for the Bowen family. He worked at Bowen’s for 18 years and was well-liked by all his students. During the day after his bus route was completed, he would join up with the coffee group at the Friendship House restaurant where they would get their daily dose of John’s jokes and humor. Then he would head home in time to catch “Days of Our Lives” before leaving to pick the kids up from school.

John enjoyed many things which included hunting, fishing, being a substitute for the pool and bowling leagues, driving his bus, and coffee with the group. He loved being with his family the most.

John is survived by his wife Annette, daughters Jennifer McMullen and Jaimie (Jesse) Kaster, son John A. McMullen, grandchildren Alyssa (Mitch), Kayla, Katelynn, Matthew, Jordan (Amanda), Krystal, Nicole, Sarah, Corey, great-grandchild Finn, sisters Jo Anne (Ken) Duller, Joyce (Steve) Owens, other family and many friends.

 John was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Leanna, and brother Joseph McMullen.

A celebration of John's life will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Clarion, formerly the Claridge Motor Inn, at 70 N Stevens St. in Rhinelander.
