Ruby’s Pantry celebrates 10 years in Rhinelander
Ruby’s Pantry, a ministry of Calvary Baptist Church, will celebrate its 10th anniversary in Rhinelander on Feb. 20.
On the third Tuesday of every month, Ruby’s Pantry distributes food at the National Guard Armory in Rhinelander from 4:30 to 6 p.m. For a $25 donation, each guest receives an abundance of different grocery items, according to a press release announcing the milestone.
For the first 3 1/2 years, the Rhinelander Ruby’s Pantry began operations out of Grace Foursquare Church; for the past 6 1/2 years, Calvary has overseen this ministry at the armory. Over the 10 years of ministry in Rhinelander, Ruby’s Pantry has given back $55,000 to other local non-profits groups in the area, the release states. Any food that is left over at 6 p.m. is distributed that night to other non-profit groups in the area, including the Rhinelander food pantry, which received over 10,000 pounds of food from Ruby’s Pantry in 2023.
Ruby’s Pantry is for anyone that eats. There are no income or residency requirement and Ruby’s Pantry is for anyone looking to extend their monthly grocery budget. Ruby’s Pantry is not government funded and is a 501(c)3. Each cash donation is used to cover operational costs like transportation, fuel, and the warehouse staff. All of the food is donated by corporate food donors to Ruby’s Pantry.
