RHS sports recap: Monday, Feb. 19

Skiing: RHS/NPHS boys’ 4th/9, girls 9th/9, WIARA State Meet

The Rhinelander/Northland Pines Alpine Ski team wrapped up its 2024 season Monday with the conclusion of the WIARA State Meet in La Crosse. The Hodag boys took fourth in Division 2 and were 14th overall in the field while the Hodag girls were ninth in D2 and 22nd overall.

Jason Linn had the best performance for Rhineladner, taking 37th overall in a field of 160 skiers. His weekend was highlighted by a 42nd-place run in giant slalom. Lukas Bishop finished 55th, Holden Schmitz was 84th, Eli Repenshek was 100th, and Ben Olson was 103rd.

Karlie Yunkers led the way for the Hodag girls in 87th out of a field of 162. Maddie Ewan was 107th, Lindsey Hoerchler was 135th, Aila Bergman finished 143rd and Hayley Schiek was 148th.
