Nicolet College hosting WRAP exhibition
The Nicolet College Art Gallery is hosting the Wisconsin Regional Art Program (WRAP) Exhibition now through March 23, featuring emerging artists of the Northwoods.
The Association of Wisconsin Artists supports statewide WRAP exhibits to encourage the creative growth of non-professional artists, according to a Nicolet press release. Founded as an arts-based outreach program from the UW-Madison College of Agriculture in 1940, WRAP exhibits and workshops are now hosted annually at multiple locations across the state to foster cultural enrichment in support of the rural arts community.
Northwoods artists of all skill levels were invited to submit up to three pieces of artwork to be displayed at the Nicolet College Art Gallery. Although the WRAP exhibit is non-juried, submissions will be judged by Nicolet College Ceramics Adjunct Instructor Adam Stuart to select meritorious works to enter the Annual State Art Exhibit in Madison this September, the release states.
Nicolet College Arts & Events Manager Jenny Bonardelli said the Nicolet Gallery provides an important platform for up-and-coming artists to display their talents to the Northwoods community.
“Geographically, we don’t have as many cultural opportunities, so the fact that we’re here is vital to local artists and community members in general who have a creative edge to have that opportunity to share their work,” Bonardelli said. “We are the perfect vehicle to allow those folks to share their gifts with all of us. We invite anyone to take a stroll through the gallery and let it fill your cup,” she added.
The Nicolet College Art Gallery is open Mondays – Thursdays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Fridays from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Northwoods Center.
