RHS Sports recap: Tuesday, Feb. 13
Boys’ basketball: Rhinelander 72, Shawano 55
Seth Nofftz led four Hodags in double digits on Tuesday as the Rhinelander High School boys’ basketball team picked up a 72-55 victory on the road at Shawano.
Nofftz scored 20 points on a perfect 8 of 8 shooting. Devon Feck added 14, Will Gretzinger had 13 and Truman Lamers had 11. The Hodags led most of the way and took a 31-23 lead at the break.
Will Verkuilen led Shawano with 20 points while Logan Sipple added 19.
Rhinelander (13-9, 8-2 Great Northern) travels to Mosinee on Friday.
Girls’ basketball: Shawano 69, Rhinelander 47
The Rhinelander High School girls’ basketball team fell behind early and could never recover in a 69-47 loss at Shawano on Tuesday night.
The Hawks started the game on a 10-0 run. Despite committing 19 turnovers, the Hodags only trailed 31-23 at the break after Vivian Lamers banked in a 3 at the buzzer.
Shawano pulled away in the second half behind six-foot sophomore Leah Nordin, who scored 26 of her game-high 40 points over in the second half.
Aubryn Clark paced Rhinelander with 26 points. Lily Treder added 14.
The Hodags (16-7, 9-2 Great Northern) finish the regular season Friday at home against Mosinee.
