Peter Fons, 80, passed away at his home November 26, 2024.
Peter was born in Milwaukee on January 11, 1944 to the late Richard M. Fons and Helen Skedzielewski. The family moved to Mukwanago where he attended St. James through sixth grade then moved to East Troy where he was a graduate of East Troy High School in 1962. After several years at UW-Oshkosh, Peter began a long and successful career at The Heil Company and rose to Regional Sales Director based in Seattle Washington. He retired back to East Troy for several years and eventually moved to a cozy cabin in Hazelhurst, just outside Minocqua.
Peter was an avid outdoorsman, and while living in Seattle, then Fall City Wash., he loved riding his horses Wynn and Grande into the mountains for fishing and elk hunting trips.
He fished the Puget Sound and enjoyed boating around the San Juan Islands. Peter was quite a craftsman, building his barn, house and much of the furniture in it. His vegetable garden was prolific, and much time was spent lovingly tending it.
In Hazelhurst, Peter was very involved with the local Lions Club and spent several terms as vice president then president. His pet project was the collection of used pill bottles which were then donated to Doctors Without Borders (through Matthew 25 Ministries). He continued hunting and fishing and loved the ice fishing available in northern Wisconsin. He was proud to share the bounty of his catches and vegetable garden with friends.
Peter is preceded in death by his parents and brother Michael (Roxanne) Fons.
Peter is survived by his daughter Jocelyn (Kevin) Collins, grandchildren Lillian and Cameron, sisters Kathleen (Jack) Jansen and Christine Fons (Dennis Home) and many nieces and nephews.
