Squirt As win home tournament

The Rhinelander Ice Association’s Squirt A Hockey team won its home tournament Sunday in dramatic fashion, defeating West Madison 7-6 following a shootout at the Rhinelander Ice Arena.

Mason Paulson scored five goals in the game, including the game-tying goal with 1:54 remaining in regulation. Cooper Clark scored the other and the two had Rhinelander’s tallies in the 3-round shootout, which the Hodags won, 2-0.

The Hodags edged Sauk Prairie 2-1 on Friday and doubled up Sun Prairie 6-3 Saturday to win their pool. Paulson and Clark scored against Sauk Prairie. Derek Jorata had a hat trick against Sun Prairie, and the Hodags also got goals from Paulson, Clark and Ike Laggis.
