David E. Somers

David E. Somers, age 82 of Rhinelander, died on Dec. 12, 2024, at the Wausau Aspirus Hospital. He was born on Aug. 24, 1942 in Rhinelander, the son of Howard and Hazel (Hudson) Somers. He attended schools in Rhinelander and then enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served in the Korean War and then Germany before his honorable discharge. He returned to Rhinelander and was employed by the Murphy Oil USA company until his retirement in 2000.

On Jan. 30, 1993 David married the former Lucille DiGiacomo and she preceded him in death on May 18, 2010. They were married at and were members of the Faith Lutheran Church in Harshaw. Earlier in life he enjoyed fishing and gardening.

David is survived by his sons James (Trudi) Somers and Eric (Jill) Somers, his grandchildren Emily and Logan Somers, his great grandchild Dawson Rhode, his brother Howard “Butch” (Tami) Somers, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and his brothers Les and Raymond.
