A 44-year-old Rhinelander man has been arrested in connection with an Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) investigation in Forest County.
According to a press release issued by the office of Forest County sheriff Jeffery Marvin , Timothy J. Stoehr was taken into custody on Dec. 5 after officers executed a search warrant at his residence in Rhinelander.
Several electronic devices were seized from the residence during the search, according to the release.
The investigation began on March 1 when Forest County authorities received a Cyber Tip notification from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reporting that several uploaded files had been flagged as containing possible child pornography.
The Forest County Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force was able to identify a suspect and locations in both Forest and Oneida counties where files were uploaded, the release states.
On Dec. 5, the Rhinelander Police Department, Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation joined the Forest County Sheriff’s Office in executing a search warrant at a residence in the City of Rhinelander where Stoehr was taken into custody.
A second search warrant was executed at a residence in the Town of Lincoln, the release states.
While Stoehr was referred to the Forest County District Attorney’s Office on 10 counts of possession of child pornography and 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a child, online court records indicate a criminal complaint has not yet filed.
Additional charges may be forthcoming pending the forensic evaluation of the seized electronics, the release notes.
