Presque Isle native part of Felzkowski’s new team for upcoming session


Senate President Mary Felzkowski (R-Tomahawk) has announced her staff hires for the 2025-26 legislative session.

“I am thrilled that my colleagues have entrusted me with the role of senate president and look forward to contributing to a productive caucus with the other members of the senate leadership team,” she said in a statement. “My new team has the experience, energy and knowledge needed to facilitate this productivity, serve as a resource to all members and aid in moving our caucus forward.”

Felzkowski’s staff will be as follows:

• Cameil Bowler as communications director. 

She has worked for Rep. John Spiros since 2021 and has extensive experience in political campaigning.

Bowler is a graduate of UW-Madison and a native of Presque Isle.

• Dustin Truax as chief of staff. He has extensive political, policy and leadership experience; in his 12 years serving in the Capitol, he has held various roles in both the Assembly and Senate, most recently serving as the chief of staff to Senator Rob Stafsholt. Truax is a native of Galesville.

• Christopher Seitz will serve as senior advisor. He has six years of experience working in the State Senate, including four as Felzkowski’s policy advisor.

Seitz is a graduate of UW-La Crosse and a native of New Glarus.

• David Specht-Boardman will serve as Felzkowski’s policy director.

He’s spent the last four years as a senior policy advisor to Senator Joan Ballweg. 

Previously, Specht  worked in the state assembly and in government relations for the University of Wisconsin System. 

He is a graduate of both UW-Stevens Point and UW-Madison and a native of Wauwatosa.

• John Soper will serve as chief attorney. He has vast experience in the state senate, including serving in the office of the Vice-Chair of the Joint Finance Committee.

Prior to joining the legislature, Soper practiced law privately.

He received his B.A. from the University of Iowa and his J.D. from the University of Marquette, and is a native of Mequon. 

• Gabi Cacciotti will be Felzkowski’s administrative director.

She has spent the last legislative session with Senator Joan Ballweg. Cacciotti has substantial private sector experience as a marketing and social media director.

She is a graduate of Madison College and Liberty University, and a native of Madison.
